Because of the characteristics associated with autism, individuals with autism are more likely to wander, be at risk of drowning, or find themselves in other dangerous situations. This highly interactive, 1 hour module will provide First Responders with critical information for recognizing autism and keeping individuals with autism safe. First Responders will learn a range of simple strategies for supporting individuals with autism, including how to improve communication, how to support sensory sensitivities and how to improve cooperation to create safety. All learners who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
Note: Many Emergency Services workplaces have very strict firewall and security software running on their networks. Due to firewall restrictions, it is recommended that First Responders complete the course from their home systems to ensure greater success in their course completion.
When you work through your course to the end, you will find a button labeled ‘Exit’ on the last page of the course; clicking this button will close the module browser window. Navigate to your “My Courses” page to receive your Certificate of Completion.
